INTRODUCING HAECKELS LAB

Designed & Lab Grown in Margate

Haeckels Lab is designed to harness the power of lab-grown ingredients and in-house biotech to vastly reduce the carbon emissions created in harvesting and manufacturing products using natural ingredients through their Spiraglow™ range below.

The skincare and beauty market relies heavily on natural ingredients sourced from plants, where the carbon emissions in growing, processing, shipping, and manufacturing natural ingredients far outweigh their benefits. Farming these natural ingredients can have a significant resource intensity that can impact the environment and raise sustainability concerns as it requires large areas of land and water resources. For example, cultivating plants such as aloe vera, lavender, and chamomile for their extracts requires extensive irrigation, fertilisers, and pesticides. Cultivating natural ingredients can also significantly impact biodiversity as many natural ingredients are sourced from wild plant populations, which can result in over-harvesting. One of them is Sandalwood, a popular skincare ingredient that is extracted from an endangered tree species due to over-harvesting. The extraction process of natural ingredients can also have a resource-intensive impact. Many natural ingredients require energy-intensive extraction methods such as steam distillation and solvent extraction, which can have a significant carbon footprint. The waste generated from the extraction process can harm the environment if not disposed of properly. Transporting natural ingredients can also have a significant carbon footprint, contributing to greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution.

So how does Haeckels help reduce the carbon emissions? At Haeckels Lab, like lab-grown vegan meats, these new lab products are engineered as nature-identical and come from renewable ingredients that are far less resource intensive than their “natural” counterparts. The Spiraglow™ range, is designed from a biofabrication of lab-grown renewable ingredients, where the probiotic ferment hydrates and calms the skin, promoting a healthy microbiome and are all indepedently certified to KIND TO BIOME®. Think barrier protection. Think microbial skincare. These products are alive.

Spiraglow™ Hydrating Toner 100ml

A daily toner to hydrate and smooth the skin; and maintain a healthy microbiome using our unique Spiraglow™ ferment with vitamin B3 and humectants. The toner contains niacinamide, which is a form of the protein B3. Niacinamide minimises the appearance of pores, reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and promotes skin hydration by improving barrier functions. Spiraglow™ Hydrating Toner creates a foundational building block to help amplify our Spiraglow™ EGF Serum through its rich hydration and powerful smoothing.

Morning and evening, splash onto a cotton pad or directly into hands, pat onto freshly cleansed face and neck, and leave on as the base for serums. Think of this as an effective base for your skincare regime.

Spiraglow™ Cleansing Milk

Spiraglow™ EGF Serum

A daily serum to intensely hydrate, plump, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles featuring our unique Spiraglow™ serum with a potent combination of peptides, including EGF, derived from sugar fermentation. What is EGF? EGF is a cellular growth factor protein that is fundamental in producing collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid – the buzzwords for youthful, glowing skin. Haeckels' derives their EGF from in-lab sugar fermentation. Studies show that the use of EGF over the course of 3 to 6 months has shown a significant reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Combined with their Spiraglow™ extract, a potent ferment designed for unrivalled levels of hydration, these star ingredients create a balanced pH environment on the skin which helps to promote good bacteria on the face. Over time, these good bacteria will make it harder for bad bacteria to thrive, meaning that continued usage of our Spiraglow™ EGF serum will lead to short-term benefits for the appearance of the skin and long-term barrier protection.

This serum is designed to be applied after cleansing, toning and Algae Plump serum. It works by amplifying the properties of our Spiraglow™ Hydrating Toner. Apply 6-7 drops onto damp skin after cleansing and before applying creams.

Key Ingredients: Spiraglow – EGF – Peptides.

While natural ingredients are a popular choice for skincare and beauty products, the resource intensity of farming these ingredients is a significant concern. To ensure sustainability, companies must consider the environmental impact of their ingredient sourcing and extraction methods and work towards more sustainable alternatives with Haeckels Lab.
