The five love languages is a book written in 1992 by Gary Chapman, outlining five general ways that romantic partners can express and experience love through words of affirmation, acts of service, gifts, quality time, and physical touch.
Chapman suggests that to discover another person's love language, one must observe 'how they express love to others'. He theorises that people tend to give love in the way they prefer to receive love, and better communication can be accomplished when one demonstrates the act of caring in the love language of their recipient.
